Grammy-winning Coolio and longtime collaborator DJ Wino have been recording the rapper’s first studio album since 2009. Bottom 2 Top when he tragically died at the age of 59.
“TAG ‘You It'” and the music video for the song were released today by the host’s estate, 1 Pic Entertainment and Strategic Media Entertainment/Intercept Records. The video, directed by Ken Francis and Knicnotty, is Coolio’s final media before his death on September 28, 2022 from cardiac arrest.
The first posthumous single from hip-hop icon Coolio, “TAG ‘You It” is the first track from his upcoming fifth studio album. Long live COULIO. The new tune, which was recorded and scheduled for release while he was still alive, featured DJ Wino and Too $hort. The new song, which pays homage to 90s hip-hop, is contagious, dirty and raw in all the right places. “TAG ‘You It'” is sure to generate controversy and buzz because it comes with a thoughtful and funny video in classic Coolio style.
This year, DJ Wino, Too $hort, Trench of Naughty by Nature and other artists will be collaborating on LONG LIVE COOLIO for a worldwide release.
